Second Secretary and Vice Consul Michael Guy Elected to the Post of President of the Young Diplomats in London (YDL) Association
In his first speech as President, Mike Guy welcomed the new committee members and thanked the previous committee for their hard work. He also highlighted the commitment and dedication that Marwan Franics had shown to the Organisation during this term as President. The new President recognised the efforts of the YDL sponsors, the Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill, BMW, Hamptons International, IDS, Embassy and Diplomat Magazines, and ephasised that without their support much of the very important work that the YDL conducts would not be possible. Looking forward to his term as President, Mike spoke on expanding the networks of the YDL, diversifying and increasing the number of social functions and pledged to work towards increasing the funds given to charitable causes.
The outgoing President provided a report on the events of the past year and congratulated the new committee on their appointment. Some of the events for the last year included:
Monthly Diplomatic Breakfasts, Shiny Party to help St Mungo's, Black & White Ball in aid of Kid for Kids, participation in the Virgin London Triathlon in support of International Development through Sport and the Bollywood Party. In total YDL contributed over £5,000.00 to various charities.
The Young Diplomats in London have a full programme of activities planned, starting with the December Diplomat Breakfast with guest speaker Mr Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary-General.

The Young Diplomats of London is a voluntary organisation founded in 2002 to provide a forum for Diplomats based in London to network and share experiences. The organisation has since evolved into a well organised association with a structured committee which actively contributes to various charitable causes as well as provides different fora for diplomats to meet greet and treat with each other.
